The Drakengard series (or Drag-on Dragoon as titled in Japanese) has been known for its interesting stories and music. It sounded like NieR sometimes and it sounded like past DOD games sometimes. It’s a great soundtrack, but this is crazy talk if we’re comparing it to the first Nier’s OST. ![]() I can't say I ever felt like DOD3's OST was consistent. Yoko Taro, unlike many other game devs, actually takes into consideration what long-term fans want instead of being driven by money and fame. Even when there are deviations from the typical music, it still feels like it all belongs to the same album. In the end, both games have OSTs that create one solid and consistent sound. Is it electric rock? Experimental orchestra? Gregorian-esque? Transformational ballads? Of course, it's all of that but it never comes together to feel like one product.Ĭonversely, NieR Gestalt/Replicant really blows any other OST out of the water, though, and NieR Automata is just as beautiful but not as perfect as NieR Gestalt/Replicant.
